Optima 34 78 - 5 Year Warranty

Optima Battery Warranty:

Optima has a great warranty program and recently they extended their warranty further. Below is the time period for most applications. To see the full description of the warranty with all the details including for commercial use, please check the Optima Warranty Page. If you should need to replace your battery during the warranty period we are here to help you. Below is more information regarding how we handle warranty claims.

Optima Warranty

Basically you will need to pay to ship the battery back to us and then we send you a new one if the battery is verified as bad. Before paying to send it back to us we would like to suggest a few things below that may save you time and money. Optima checks all batteries before exchanging them under warranty to verify they are bad, and batteries that test good will be returned at the owners expense.

First we would like to suggest that you try the following things recommended by Optima to verify the battery is actually dead and unrecoverable. These methods may work to recover a battery which is not actually dead, but just appears to be dead. Straight from Optima's website here is how to recover a seemingly dead battery: http://www.optimabatteries.com/product_support/resuscitating_agmbattery.php If none of these methods bring your battery back to life, than it is indeed a battery that has gone bad.

The next step is to see if your local Interstate Battery supplier can exchange the battery. This is the fastest and cheapest way to get a new battery since no shipping charges will be involved. Call 1-800-CRANK-IT (1-800-272-6548) or click http://www.interstatebatteries.com/cs_estore/DealerLocator/Default.aspx to find your local interstate dealer. Since we (Barch Designs) are an Authorized Interstate Dealer and Interstate is an Authorized Optima Battery Dealer, any Interstate Dealer "can" exchange your battery under warranty. Note though that some Interstate dealers have a local policy that states they will only exchange Optima Batteries that were purchased from that specific store. You will need your original receipt for all warranty claims.

If your local Interstate Dealer won't exchange the Optima Battery then you will need to contact us at this point to get an RMA number and the correct return shipping address. Please email CustomerService@BarchDesigns.com to get started and we will issue you an RMA number and give you the correct return shipping address. Please note that we have multiple warehouses and any battery sent to the wrong warehouse will be refused and sent back at the owners expense. Make sure you get an RMA number and return shipping address BEFORE sending the battery back. You will need to package the battery up and pay to ship it back to us at your cost. We recommend a traceable carrier with insurance such as UPS. Once we receive your battery, we run it through the tests from Optima (see below for specifics) and if it tests out bad, then we ship you out a new battery at no cost to you.

Optima's Basic Warranty Tests to verify if the battery is covered under warranty or not

Visual Inspection: Battery must be visually free from damage or abuse: No alterations to terminals or case, for example no holes in the case or post damage. If the battery is clear of damage goto Minimum Voltage test. If battery has damage, it is NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY

Minimum Voltage test: If battery measures above 12.6V (12V battery) or 6.3V (6V battery) then goto Load test. if battery measures below voltage rating then goto Charge test

Charge test: If battery starts accepting a charge, fully charge it up and then go to Load test. If battery does not accept a charge then the battery is bad and is COVERED UNDER WARRANTY

Load Test: Load Test @ 1/2 the rated CCA of the battery for 15 seconds. Measure Voltage. If above 9.6V @ 70 deg F or above 9.4V between 50-69 deg F (4.8V @ 70 deg F or above 4.4V between 50-69 deg F for a 6V battery) battery is good and is NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. If it measures below the rated voltages the battery is bad and IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
